A recent integrated Performance Monitoring report presented to Cabinet at Norfolk County Council has highlighted that the Children's Services department are failing to meet a substantial number of targets for the year. In the recent assessment of the Council's Corporate Objective no 4, "Improve educational attainment and help children and young people achieve their ambitions" it was shown that the Council had missed over 50% of its targets by 5% or more and in many cases performance had dropped from the previous year.
Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Mervyn Scutter expressed his frustration at the current state of affairs, "the administration should stop patting themselves on the back about being a four star authority and address the many issues in Children's Services as highlighted by this recent report to Cabinet. It is very worrying that they have failed, by large margins, to meet over 50% of their targets, in particular to standards being achieved across the County."
